Description: How does a single cell, the fertilized egg, give rise to a complex organism that contains many different cell types, tissues, and organs? How do the organs develop to the right size in the right place to give rise to a functional animal? Developmental biology seeks to answer these questions by studying cellular behavior and molecular pathways that control patterning in the developing embryo. Description: The New York Stem Cell Foundation's Fourth Annual Translational Stem Cell Research Conference will take place on October 13 and 14, 2009 at the Rockefeller University in New York City.
